The Book of Joshua
A richly theological narrative portraying the unwavering faithfulness of God and the importance and power of obedience. From the very first chapter, God speaks clearly to the people of Israel: “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9). This refrain, “Be strong and courageous,” echoes throughout the book, serving as a guiding principle for Joshua and the people as they navigate the challenges of settlement following a prolonged period of wandering.
